Why this role

Whether a person understands what they are agreeing to is decided by design.

01

Real ownership of the experience, end to end

02

Consent has to be understood, not just recorded — that is the design problem

03

Withdrawal as easy as giving consent: Section 6(4), tested before launch

04

One accessible, multilingual design system across both products

The work

What you'll actually do

01

What you'll own

  • The individual's app, on web and mobile — one place for a person to see who holds their data and on what basis, and to give, review or withdraw consent; it has to work for a first-time smartphone user and for a lawyer
  • The organisation console — the tool DPOs, compliance and legal teams use every day: consent inventory, notices, rights requests, grievances and audit evidence; dense, fast and precise
  • Notices and consent screens — turning legal notices into language people understand, in English and Indian languages, and designing the consent screens organisations embed in their own products
  • The design system — one accessible, multilingual system across both products, built and maintained with frontend engineering
  • Research, done by you — planning and running usability tests with synthetic data, because you will never see real users' data
  • Quality through the build — working with Product and Engineering through every sprint, reviewing what is implemented, and cutting scope with them when the dates require it
02

The hard part

  • Consent has to be understood, not just recorded — a consent a person did not understand is a compliance artefact and a moral failure at the same time; making a legal notice comprehensible, in plain language and across languages, is the design problem of the whole product
  • Withdrawal has to be as easy as giving consent — the Act requires it (Section 6(4)): no pre-checked boxes, no dark patterns, no extra steps on the way out; we test these flows against exactly this before launch
  • You cannot look at the data — personal data routed through the platform must not be readable by us; that is statutory, not a preference, so you will design flows you can never inspect and validate them through usability testing and synthetic data
  • Nobody has done this — no Consent Manager is registered yet, so there is no direct incumbent to benchmark against; you design from the Act, the Rules and what people actually need
  • The dates are not ours to move — scope is the only variable, and you will be cutting things you like
03

Minimum qualification

  • 4 years of product design experience on digital products that shipped
  • A portfolio with at least two end-to-end projects showing the problem, the flows, the prototypes, the final UI, what happened after launch and what you changed because of it
  • Experience planning and running usability studies yourself, and changing a design because of what they showed
  • Designing to WCAG 2.1 AA as a matter of course — contrast, focus order, screen-reader labels, touch targets, layouts that survive 200% zoom
  • Writing interface text as carefully as you draw it — you can turn a dense legal or technical paragraph into plain language without changing what it means
  • Expert Figma: components, variants, auto layout and tokens; you have built or substantially extended a design system that engineers shipped from
  • Responsive design across web and mobile, with enough understanding of frontend constraints that engineers build your work rather than redesign it
  • Practical use of AI tools in your design workflow — ideation, research synthesis, prototyping, UI generation or design-to-code — and a clear view of where they help and where they mislead
04

Preferred

  • Experience as the first or only designer on a product, at a startup or inside a larger company
  • Designing for Indian languages and scripts — text expansion, mixed scripts, line height and type that holds up in Devanagari, Bengali, Tamil and others
  • Dense B2B or enterprise products: admin consoles, dashboards, audit trails, role-based access and long multi-step workflows
  • Regulated domains such as fintech, KYC, insurance, health or privacy, especially consent, permission or account-aggregator flows
  • Designing an AI feature — explaining a model's output to a user, or designing for uncertainty
  • Prototyping in code (HTML/CSS or React) or with design-to-code tools
  • A degree in Design, HCI, Interaction Design, Visual Communication, Computer Science or a related field — portfolio and practical experience carry more weight than where you studied
05

How we work

  • Hybrid working style with anchor at our Grandthum office in Greater Noida, Tech Zone IV
  • Defined core collaboration hours — outside that, flex your day around its natural shape
  • Architecture decisions get written down and argued in the open. Small, reviewable changes. Depth is valued over volume
  • Company-issued devices and approved tooling for anything touching customer or compliance data. Given what we build, we hold ourselves to the standard we sell
06

The practical details

  • Location: Grandthum, Tech Zone IV, Greater Noida West, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Uttar Pradesh
  • Employment type: full-time
  • Reports to: Product Manager
  • Offers are subject to standard background verification, which we will explain before we ask for anything
07

How we'll evaluate you

  • Application review — your CV, your portfolio link and your answer to the written question in the application
  • A portfolio walkthrough with the Product Manager — one project, in depth: what you decided, what you got wrong and what you changed
  • A conversation with the founder — the stage, the trade-offs, and your questions
  • We aim to make a decision, either way, within two weeks of your first conversation with us, and we will tell you where you stand at every stage
08

Being straight with you about the stage

  • We are a small, pre-revenue team with a product that has to be right before a regulator looks at it
  • You will have real ownership of the experience, with very little cover
  • The upside: the decisions are actually yours and the market opening is real and dated
  • The downside: it is early, the hours around MVP will be uneven, and some of what you design you will redo
Ideal candidate

You'll thrive here if this sounds like you

You write interface text as carefully as you draw it

You plan and run usability studies yourself, and change the design because of what they show

Accessibility is how you work, not a checklist at the end

You want ownership without scaffolding — no design lead above you, and we are in the detail with you rather than reviewing from a distance

You would rather design from the Act, the Rules and what people actually need than copy a reference product
